The Most Hated Zodiac Sign (and Why They Are Misunderstood)

12 May 20255 Mins Read

You don’t have to understand much about astrology to know that some signs get a bad rep, laughed at in social media memes. Cancers are “cry babies”, Leos are “dramatic”, and Virgos are “rigid”. Gemini is one of the star signs that receives the most shade, probably because the air sign is okay laughing along with everyone else.

According to an expert astrologer, who is also a Gemini, read on to discover why this Air sign is misunderstood.

Gemini’s Reputation in Astrology

As a Gemini expert astrologer myself, I kinda, sorta understand why. I also don’t get it because we have good intentions, which are rarely seen.

Many people fear Geminis because of the mythology surrounding Mercury, their planetary ruler. In their youth, Mercury was a trickster who caused trouble everywhere they went. This mischief stemmed from Mercury’s gifts of communication and travel. As the celestial messenger, they often got caught up in hijinks, giving wrong directions, telling false stories, and creating controversy for fun when bored. After all, Mercury needed to find something to do when nothing was happening, which led to their reputation as a troublemaker.

Mercury: The Mythology Behind Gemini

Understanding that Mercury was born in secrecy may help explain why he is the god of communication. In Roman mythology, Mercury is the child of Jupiter and Maia, who concealed their pregnancy to protect him from Juno, Jupiter’s wife. They wanted to shield Mercury from Juno’s wrath due to the affair that led to his birth.

As a result, Mercury’s early life was filled with drama, influencing his rebellious behavior until he matured and learned to channel his strengths positively. Whenever he acted out, he faced punishments from his father, Jupiter, often leading him to retreat to a cave until he was ready to take responsibility. In summary, young Geminis should be allowed to grow and mature. Once they reach adulthood, they often embody the admired, necessary qualities of Mercury.

The Gift and Curse of Communication

Mercury is both a giver and receiver of information, which can lead to it being overly chatty or gossipy on bad days. However, most of the time, Mercury helps to clear up miscommunications and provides valuable insights. We rely on Mercury for various aspects of our lives, from technology and entertainment to food production.

The downside? When things go wrong, like an email not being sent or an Uber running late, people often vent their frustrations on Mercury and Gemini, blaming us for issues beyond our control. Instead of getting angry about this, we prefer to move on. We might only become frustrated when the logic doesn’t add up. By living in our heads and focusing on reasoning, we can cultivate an understanding of situations and effectively problem-solve.

Geminis are Wordsmiths, Not Liars

We are wordsmiths, crafting our expressions to communicate our thoughts effectively. Sometimes, we may go overboard, but we can make a significant impact and connect with others when we are concise and to the point.

We’re not necessarily deceptive; we aim to convey positivity and kindness. The truth is, regardless of our zodiac signs, everyone has the capacity for dishonesty. Since our communication is influenced by the planet Mercury, we often take the blame for misunderstandings.

The Gemini Twin Stereotype Explained

Since we are twin stars, people find issues with us. They claim we have two different personalities. However, it may not be as mischievous as one might think. Some Geminis are very sociable, and their other twin is quiet, reflective, and a homebody.

I am the latter because I tend to find solace in reading and researching information, but I put on my party hat on occasion, too. Having two different views and stances on situations makes people distrust us, when in reality, we’re just seeing both sides of the coin and playing devil’s advocate.

Loyal and Loving: The Real Gemini Nature

Geminis make excellent friends and siblings. We are continuously and cosmically aligned with one another, making relationships very important to us. We are dedicated to overcoming challenges together and striving for greatness alongside others. We are the “ride or die” of the zodiac, steadfastly supporting our loved ones through thick and thin.

Geminis are Quick-Minded & Effective

One important aspect that people often overlook is our ability to complete tasks effectively and quickly. Since there are “two of us”, we can handle the workload of both twins, which means we are quick-thinking and attentive around the clock. Nothing escapes our notice. We are always vigilant and focused.

The Final Word: Stop the Gemini Hate

Love us or hate us — we are truly awesome! The bottom line is that the world needs Geminis, so don’t take us for granted and stop the hate. Show us some love for all that we do.
