Company Overview
Serving communities all over Alberta, Trickster Theatre, brings its process of show creation into about 50-60 schools per year. We are a 45 year old physical theatre company that creates original shows each week based on community chosen themes. Our vibrant show creation process enables us to involve up to 600 students in the development of an original show each week. With 2 touring rigs we are working from one end of the province to the other, including in many of the Indigenous communities. In the past 35 years we have created over 1350 shows using our week-long residency process. More than 400,000 Albertans have been in a Trickster Theatre Residency. We also have programs that use theatre to teach K-6 science and story writing.
The company is very stable and receives operating funding from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the City of Calgary. By budget, it is the largest TYA company in Alberta.

Job Description
We are in search of an exceptionally well organized person to manage the administrative side of the company. Working alongside the Creative and Executive Director, as well as the Production Coordinator, the successful candidate will play a critical role in financial planning, marketing and sales, operations management, and organizational development. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Key responsibilities
– Collaborate with the Executive and Creative Director, as well as the Production Coordinator, to formulate season plans and budgets
– Oversee day-to-day administrative and operational functions
– Supervise the marketing, fundraising, and public relations initiatives
– Work with the accountant on financial reporting, budgets, and cash flow
-Manage contracts for schools and artists
– Manage feedback reporting from schools and artist teams
– Manage compliance, and reporting for various organizational activities
– Assist with Grant writing and other fundraising activities
-Manage statistics collection
-Organize our Casino once every 2 years
-Manage Social media and website
– Manage the Google Adwords Account
Selection Criteria:
-You have extensive experience and expertise in overseeing and executing multiple complex projects simultaneously, ideally within the arts and culture sector.
-You have been in similar positions
-You have a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
– You have exceptional organizational and multitasking skills
– A Bachelor’s degree in Arts Management, Business Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred
Desirable Qualities:
– Experience with financial planning and resource allocation
– Familiarity with grant funding agencies and not-for-profit governance
– Experience with financial management software like QuickBooks Online and familiarity with CADAC
– Experience with Salesforce, Google Suite, Google Adwords and Campaign Monitor.
– Ability to solve operational and artistic challenges creatively
– A love of theatre and the theatre-making process
Work Environment
This is a 40 hour a week office position with some ability to work remotely, dependent on company needs at the time. Occasional week-end work required to represent the company at events. The office has 3-4 full time positions and 1-3 part time. This position will share a direct report full-time position with the Production Coordinator. The company has an artist team of approximately 25 people, who for the most part, work on contract for each week-long project. Our office is in NW Calgary.
