Netflix Pulling Five Games from Its TV and Web Library Ahead of UI Refresh

13 May 20254 Mins Read

The Link Twins, Infernax, and Reigns: Three Kingdoms

Netflix’s Cloud gaming beta has been ongoing for a couple of years now and is expected to be rolling out to the remaining regions alongside the Netflix UI refresh set to begin dropping this month. Ahead of that release, we’ve just learned that five games will depart from the current library of titles.

These are the first major removals from the Netflix Game library on the TV and web browser, but as we’ve covered, this is not the first batch of games to leave. Back in December, we saw the largest number of mobile games depart and have since seen several others follow suit. Over 13 games have departed from the mobile library to date.

As a reminder, and as per Netflix, not everyone has access to Netflix games on the TV or web just yet. Per help documentation, “Games on TV and on PCs/Macs through Netflix.com is a beta experience available to a subset of members in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Spain, Mexico, France, Italy, and Germany on a selection of devices. Through this beta, we’re testing our game streaming technology and controller to make games playable across all devices where you enjoy Netflix.”

Let’s have a look at each of the games set to depart the TV/web library:

  • The Almost Gone – First released on November 28th, 2023 – A puzzle interactive story game from developers Playdigious and Happy Volcano.
    • Official description: “In this game, you’re somewhere between life and death. Dig deep into memories and other clues in a dark suburbia to unlock the mystery behind your fate.”
  • Infernax – First released on March 13th, 2024 – Single-player action game featuring classic 8-bit style graphics.
    • Official description: “Slay monsters and save innocents to break a dark curse. Choose with care, great knight — every move you make in this gory game reaps consequences.”
  • Reigns – First released on December 10th, 2023 – A simulation/strategy game from Devolver Digital and Nerial Limited.
    • Official description: “What kind of monarch are you? Field a deluge of requests from your subjects to find out. But beware — your choices will make or break the family legacy.”
  • Reigns: Three Kingdoms – First released on December 10th, 2023 – The second simulation/strategy game from Devolver Digital and Nerial Limited
    • Official description: “Your decisions on the throne shape high-stakes negotiations, military alliances and more in this game continuation inspired by Han dynasty history.”
  • Too Hot to Handle 3: Create Your Character – First released in 2024 – Serves as a companion to the main mobile game.
    • Official description: “From hairstyle to horoscope, design your perfect beach bombshell. Create new characters to transfer to the “Too Hot to Handle 3″ mobile game.”

In the case of all the games mentioned, removal notices, akin to how they display for TV shows and movies, are now appearing stating your “Last day to play” is May 13th, the removal is planned for May 14th.

With the removal of these games, that’ll leave Netflix’s TV and web game library with nine titles: Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, OXENFREE, Link Twin, Mole Gem Mayhem, Rocket, Story Warriors: Fairy Tales, Underwatermelon: Fruit Merge, Centipede Recharged, and Caverns of Mars Recharged.

Note that in the case of Reigns, the mobile versions of the games are not scheduled to leave currently and will continue to be available on both iOS and Android.

It is unclear why these removals are happening now, especially ahead of the refreshed Netflix UI rollout planned for May 19th, which is expected to see games available in more regions. Whether it’s a case of the license just coming to an end, performance/gameplay issues with said titles, or they’re cleaning the library for capacity for a wider rollout is unclear.

Netflix has yet to respond to a request for clarification and/or comment on these departures. We’ll update you should they do.

Are you disappointed these games are leaving Netflix? Let us know in the comments.
