Reddit users shared their favourite spots in Calgary and they do not disappoint

13 May 20253 Mins Read

Sometimes, it feels like Reddit has all the answers. Whether it’s a spoiler for your favourite TV shows or a product review, there’s a thread for everyone, but above all else, we love it when people share their favourite things about Calgary.

This time around, people from all walks of life discussed their favourite spots within the city, and their answers were pretty inspiring.

Want to put together a weekend itinerary? Here’s what people said were some of the places that they go back to over and over again.

With over 11 sq. km. of nature and wildlife, Reddit users agreed that Nose Hill, more specifically, the deeper parts of the park, is among the very best places to wander and rest in Calgary.

From trails to benches, flowers, and animals including porcupines, northern pocket gophers, Richardson’s ground squirrels and several species of mice and voles, there’s no place quite like it.

Described as a “top-tier selection,” the lobby of the Aquitaine Tower at 540 5 Ave. SW was another unique spot that people love to visit.

Here, you can see art and busy inner city workers as they go about their day.

Fish Creek Park is an incredible place. From boating and fishing to swimming, hiking, and wildlife watching, the provincial marvel is your oyster.

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. This urban park is one of the largest in all of North America.

Among Reddit’s favourite destinations within the area are Bebo Grove, a beautiful spruce forest that’ll make you feel like you’re kilometres away from the city and Annie’s Cafe, a seasonal eatery hidden within.

Crescent Heights is one of those places that every Calgarian needs to visit at least once. Not only is it a beautiful neighbourhood, but there’s a ton of incredible restaurants like Bar Gigi, The Sorella Trattoria, and of course Peter’s Drive-In.

Also in the area? Urban Thrift Consignment Boutique, Tigerstedt & Friends Gift Shop, Rotary Park, which has a playground, spray pool, dog area, as well as tennis and lawn bowling clubs, and the Crescent Heights lookout, which offers a magical view of Downtown.

Need a little fresh air?

Princes Island Park is where Reddit users said was amazing for birdwatching and seeing ducks or beavers.

Located in the heart of Calgary, this charming destination is home to music festivals, family events, picnics, markets, and BBQS in the warmer months, skating in the winter, and colourful trees in the fall.

Where: 4 Street and 1 Avenue SW, Calgary

Sound magical? Honourable mentions include Egerts Park in the NW, Stephen Avenue, Tom Campbell Hill, and Lindsay’s Folly, just to name a few, but if you’d like to read the full thread, you can do so here.

We also want to hear from you! What are your favourite places and things in and around Calgary? Let us know and tag us in your photos! We love to see them.
