This Professional Makeup Artist Has a Genius Hack for an Instant Eye Lift on Mature Skin

15 May 20252 Mins Read

No matter what your age, we all want a more lifted look. But when you’re over 50, it can be even harder to combat the signs of aging—hooded eyelids and crepey skin, especially—with makeup. So, when we see a hack that only takes one minute, we can use our own makeup products and actually gives our face and eye area a faux face lift? Sign us up!

Makeup artist Abigail Quinn recently took to Instagram to share what works for her 40-something skin—and clients well beyond that, too. “Tired eyes are NOT your destiny,” Quinn captioned the video.
”We want lift. We want easy. We want our eyes to POP (not droop). But let’s be honest—those 20-something influencer hacks? Not it.
That mall advice from 2012? Nope.
And trying to wing it solo? Cue the fallout (literally).” She basically said what we are all thinking,

Quinn promises her trick works for “hooded eyes, downturned eyes, regular [and] deep set” eyes so anyone can do it!

How to Do an Instant Eye Lift on Mature Skin

First, Quinn starts with a dark, matte eyeshadow shade (she uses plum) on a fluffy brush. “You’re going to follow the bottom lash line as it curves up and go in that direction, starting at the very edge of those lashes” she says. Bring it up past your natural crease. “Start moving in when you get just above that crease in small dashes using small circles to blend that darker shade in,” she continues. Make sure to stop when you get about halfway into the lid.

Then, on your lids lined up with your pupil, apply a little matte color or a little shimmer (use your finger for better payoff!) and a “touch of liner.” Don’t line your entire eye; focus the color on the outer edges for a lifted effect. Finish the look with a few coats of mascara. You can get an even cleaner, more lifted look by using concealer to clean up the edges and hide any fallout.

For a slightly more dramatic—but still lifted—eyeshadow look, apply the darker matte color on your lower lash line out, connecting it to the top. So pretty!
