Stellar Blade sequel confirmed, possibly for 2026 release

20 May 20252 Mins Read

Stellar Blade developer Shift Up subtly revealed it’s developing a sequel to its 2024 hit, and it might launch surprisingly soon.

As part of an investor report published May 16, Shift Up included a slide showcasing its plans for the next couple years (via IGN). “Platform Expansion” is listed under Stellar Blade, and it’s reasonable to assume this is referring to the PC port due out next month. The eye-catching note is “Sequel,” essentially confirming Shift Up is working a on Stellar Blade 2. Because the chart is showing Shift Up’s projects from 2024 to 2027 and based on the placement of “Sequel,” we can reasonably surmise the developer is targeting 2026 for a sequel to Stellar Blade.

The first game came out just over a year ago, and a two-year turnaround on a sequel would be almost unheard of for a Sony first-party game in recent console generations. For example, four years passed between 2018’s God of War and its sequel and five years between Horizon games.

Also included in the chart is <Project Witches>, presumably a working title for Shift Up’s next project. It hasn’t been formally revealed yet, and details are scarce as to what it actually is. Last year, reports surfaced that Shift Up was working on a “AAA urban sci-fi action RPG” (via IGN) and was targeting a 2027 release for it, which conceivably aligns with the slide above.

Of course, both a Stellar Blade sequel and <Project Witches> could end up getting pushed out for their expected launch windows, as it common in the industry. Still, even a delayed launch in 2027 for Stellar Blade 2 would be impressive. In the meantime, check out the first game if you haven’t yet, which our review called “an impressive console debut that suggests a very promising future for Shift Up.”
