An Alberta town was just named one of Canada’s best places to visit

27 May 20252 Mins Read

It may be tucked away in the Badlands of Alberta, but a small town in the province was just named one of the best places to visit in Canada.

The listing comes from Lonely Planet, which covers the world’s “most extraordinary places and experiences.”

The travel guide book publisher rounded up the 15 best places to visit nationwide, and nestled in at #9 was Drumheller.

Lonely Planet touted the town of just over 8,400 residents as the “best for dinosaur enthusiasts,” and we couldn’t agree more — it’s even home to one of Alberta’s most outrageous roadside attractions.

If the town’s inclusion on the list has motivated you to visit for the first time ever or for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the Star Mine Suspension Bridge and grab a drink and bite to eat at Drumheller’s only microbrewery.

The Royal Tyrrell Museum is also a must-see, being Canada’s only museum dedicated exclusively to the study of ancient life, and it features one of the world’s largest displays of dinosaurs.

While we are on the topic of being touted as some of the best, Alberta is no stranger to the spotlight. Just earlier this month, two picturesque spots in the province were named the most beautiful in the world.

Another inclusion to the list with an Alberta connection were the Canadian Rockies and the five national parks that run throughout the B.C./Alta. border.

You can view the full list of the best places to visit in Canada online.
