Here’s a fun fact you probably didn’t know. National Popcorn Day actually falls on my birthday, January 19. You also probably didn’t know that National Popcorn Lovers Day falls on the second Tuesday of March every year, which translates to a whole lot of popcorn. My affinity for the hot, buttery popped kernels is finally starting to make a bit more sense. Regardless of the day, there’s no such thing as a bad time to eat popcorn, whether you enjoy it as a midday snack or strictly reserve it to devour by the bucketful when you go out to the movies.

It’s the ultimate party snack, and who doesn’t love the smell of hot buttered popcorn topped with salt? Sure, you might get a kernel or two stuck in your teeth or the roof of your mouth, but who cares when it tastes so good? Even if you aren’t willing to pop your own, we’ve all grown to love bags of pre-popped popcorn like Boom Chicka Pop and Smartfood. They’re ready to go and taste almost as good as the OG—what’s not to love?

Of course, if I’m being honest, my favorite popcorn brand will forever be Pop Secret, but without a microwave, you’re kind of out of luck. At least, until now. That’s right, my popcorn-loving friends, Pop Secret announced at the recent Sweets & Snacks Expo that you’ll be able to grab a bag of their delicious ready-to-eat popcorn coming this June, exclusively at Sam’s Club. The new lineup includes three flavors—double cheddar, homestyle sea salt, and movie theater butter (my personal favorite, in case you were wondering).
In conjunction with the new release, the brand will also be unveiling its new and improved microwave popcorn line in July, complete with updated packaging and the new Butter Meter. Not that you can ever have too much butter, but the new icon will allow consumers to better choose their buttery indulgence, whether it’s Homestyle or Double Butter.
We don’t have a specific launch date yet for the new grab-and-go popcorn, but we’ll definitely be on the lookout when it finally drops. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re suddenly craving popcorn.
