Let Go and Baby Reindeer director Josephine Bornebusch is back to work on a brand new film for Netflix, The Storm, that will feature an incredible Swedish ensemble starring Gustaf Skarsgård, and Sara Shirpey. Filming has already concluded, and the film will be released on Netflix in 2026.

The Storm is an upcoming Swedish Netflix Original comedy film directed and written by Josephine Bornebusch (Baby Reindeer). Warner Bros. International Television Production is the studio producing the film with Sofie Palage as a producer, and Johan Hedman as the executive producer.

Director Josephine Bornebusch shared their excitement on working on The Storm:

“I’m so happy about the amazing ensemble who wanted to make this film with me – they are truly fantastic actors who have given their all to the movie! It feels exciting to do this outrageous comedy. I’m really looking forward to sharing this film with the audience!”

What is the plot of is The Storm?

Netflix has provided a synopsis for the film:

“Filip is turning 45, and has invited his closest friends for dinner at his and his wife’s lavish and newly bought farm estate up north in Sweden. What they don’t know is that a ferocious storm is on its way and that they’ll be trapped together. Their polished acts fall, and an unfiltered meltdown starts. When the panic starts to creep in and they all realise the seriousness of the situation, the farm starts to shrink, secrets spill out, and unexpected feelings take shape.”
