One of Ontario’s most picturesque waterfalls is just a short drive from Toronto

2 June 20253 Mins Read

Looking for your next waterfall adventure? Just a short drive from Toronto, Albion Falls offers a breathtaking escape into nature’s beauty, and it’s no surprise that this scenic spot is one of the most beloved cascades in all of Ontario.

Tucked away in the city of Hamilton, about an hour west of Toronto, Albion Falls is often seen as one of the province’s most picturesque waterfalls. With its stunning rock formations and steady, graceful flow, it’s a must-see destination for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone craving a serene outdoor escape.

Next stop: Albion Falls

According to Tourism Hamilton, “Albion Falls is a stepped jewel, classified as a cascade as it ripples over the Niagara Escarpment.” It spans 18 metres wide and 19 metres tall. It’s a sight to see!

Surrounded by a lush forest canopy and framed by a scenic bridge above, Albion Falls is a truly picturesque sight. Two viewing platforms offer the perfect vantage points to soak in the natural beauty and capture stunning photos of the cascading waters.

The waterfall’s flow changes with the seasons, ebbing and surging depending on rainfall. But for a real treat, make a trip in the summertime as it transforms into a refreshing and rewarding escape from city life.

For those eager to explore even more, a scenic 6 km trail begins at Buttermilk Falls near the Oak Knoll parking lot. It’s the perfect route for hikers and casual walkers alike, offering sweeping views of the landscape along the way.

There are a couple of lookout points along the Mountain Bow Side Trail with stunning views of the Albion Falls.

Because of how popular the falls are, Tourism Hamilton suggests planning your visit during off-peak times (early morning or weekdays) and avoiding parking on roadways if the parking lots are full.

Now go out and explore our lovely province! You know you want to.

Where: 885 Mountain Brow Blvd., Hamilton
