Frontmezzjunkies reports: The Winners of the 2025 Dorian Theater Awards

Celebrating “both mainstream achievements and works that reflect LGBTQ+ themes and perspectives—in the spirit of GALECA’s longer-established film and television honors,” the winners for the third annual Dorian Theater Awards were announced. Maybe Happy Ending continues its winning streak, taking home the prize for Outstanding Broadway Musical, with the award for Outstanding Broadway Play going to John Proctor is the Villain. The cast of John Proctor is the Villain also won Outstanding Broadway ensemble.

The award winners, chosen by members of the theater wing of GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, were announced on June 2. Some of the 17 categories, as you’ll see below, are unique, including the Broadway Showstopper Award, where there was a tie, with “Rose’s Turn” from Gypsy and the title song of Sunset Blvd sharing the award.  The awards, chosen by the members of the theater wing of GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, celebrate both mainstream achievements and works that reflect LGBTQ+ themes and perspectives. André De Shields won two Dorians, for his role in Cats: The Jellicle Ball and as this year’s LGBTQ Theater Trailblazer
