'Love Island USA' Contestant Ousted After Racist Podcast Clips Surface

5 June 20252 Mins Read

Yulissa Escobar is no longer a contestant on season 7 of Love Island USA.

Escobar was removed from the villa during the season’s second episode after podcast clips of her using racial slurs resurfaced online.

Her exit was addressed briefly on the show. Around the 18-minute mark of the episode that aired Wednesday, June 4, series narrator Ian Stirling announced, “Yulissa has left the villa.”

The reason for her exit was not explained, and it is unclear whether Escobar was removed from the villa prior to the episode’s filming or if the editors just cut her out of it.

Escobar has faced intense online backlash since joining the show. In podcast clips obtained by TMZ, she is heard using the n-word three separate times while discussing ex-boyfriends.

Prior to her exit from the villa, fans took to social media and left hundreds of comments promising to vote her off the island once voting became available on the Love Island app.

“America this is your chance to finally getting the voting right,” wrote one fan under her cast announcement on the show’s Instagram account. Another added, “Get her out of my villa.”

This is not the first incident of a Love Island USA cast member being caught using racist language. Season 6’s Hannah Smith was arrested outside of a Gracie Abrams concert in September after going on a racially-charged tirade and threatening to kill a police officer.

Escobar has yet to respond to the backlash.

Love Island USA episodes are scheduled to drop daily for the remainder of this week through Sunday, June 8. Episodes are released at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

Starting June 9, the show’s streaming schedule will be Thursdays to Tuesdays, meaning the only day without a new episode will be Wednesdays.
