This summer, Canadian Stage returns to the High Park Amphitheatre with a new staging of Romeo & Juliet, directed by Marie Farsi.

This version of the iconic tragedy stars Praneet Akilla as Romeo and Lili Beaudoin as Juliet. They’re joined by a supporting cast including Matthew G. Brown, Joella Crichton, Daniel Krmpotic, Ziska Louis, Diego Matamoros, Dan Mousseau, Meilie Ng, Asher Rose, Mike Shara, and Michaela Washburn.

The creative team features Sim Suzer (set and costume designer), Logan Raju Cracknell (lighting designer), Olivia Wheeler (sound designer), and Stephen Cota (choreographer).

Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics, concessions will be available on-site, and Canadian Stage will again offer regularly scheduled backstage tours.

“[Romeo & Juliet] has spectacular romance, heart-wringing tragedy, and explores enduring and universal themes of love, conflict, and fate,” wrote Canadian Stage artistic director Brendan Healy in a press release. “It could be the perfect Dream in High Park play. [And] we are thrilled to have director Marie Farsi — who has emerged as one of the most exciting directors in the country — working with us for the first time.”

Romeo & Juliet runs from July 13 to August 31 at the High Park Amphitheatre. Pay-what-you can rush tickets are available on the day of the performance, while general admission tickets are available for purchase here.
