Pop Icon Looks Unrecognizable After Ditching '80s Glam in Makeup-Free Selfie

7 June 20252 Mins Read

Pop icon Chappell Roan’s latest makeup-free selfie might make you do a double take.

Known for her ’80s-inspired and drag-influenced looks, the 27-year-old singer surprised fans by showing off her natural appearance in a bare-faced Instagram photo — no glitter lids, dramatic lashes or facial jewels in sight.

Captioning the photo, “I am actually normal,” Chappell explained that behind the theatrics and spotlight, she’s just like anyone else.

Famous friends of the singer flooded the comment section with support. Rapper Ice Spice wrote, “hairrr 😍,” while influencer and rapper Aliyah’s Interlude added, “my kween 💖💗💞🌸💕.”

The candid post comes after Chappell shared a serious message with fans — revealing that she may stop making music altogether if people don’t start respecting her boundaries.

While on the “Outlaws” podcast in May, she opened up about the emotional toll fame can take.

“When I started to say ‘Don’t talk to me like that’… that doesn’t mean I’m a villain or I’m ungrateful for what I have. It’s like, why is this customary? It’s so… abusive.”

She also pointed out the irony in how society now expresses regret over the way stars like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton were treated — yet continues to repeat the same cycle today.

“Absolutely, but also… that behaviour is still… people are still doing it. Do you want me to just get to the point where I become agoraphobic? Or so stressed out, or so anxious to perform? You want me to get to that point?”

Chappell ended with a warning, saying, “Because if I don’t say anything, I will. If I do not stand up for myself, I will quit because I cannot bear this. I cannot bear people touching me who I don’t know. I cannot bear people following me.”
