11 June 20252 Mins Read

One of North America’s premier dragon boat events is coming to the Toronto Islands this weekend, and it’s not one to miss. The Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival will take over Lake Ontario and bring festival fun to the islands. Here’s what to know.

It’s a summer highlight in the city, one that’s been around for over 35 years. The Toronto International Dragon Boat Race and its festival will take place on June 14 and 15 on Centre Island.

The event is organized by the Toronto Chinese Business Association in partnership with GWN Dragon Boat. According to organizers, this year the Festival is officially recognized as a Dragon Boat Canada (DBC) Race Series Event. This solidifies “its status as a must-attend competition for top teams from across the continent.”

What to expect

Though you may find yourself watching all the action out on the water, enjoy all the fun of the event at its festival.

As for what to expect, you’ll get to enjoy culinary creations from local food vendors, sit back and watch some live entertainment, and participate in family-friendly activities.

There will also be authentic Chinese cultural performances to watch throughout the day.

“With world-class racing, vibrant cultural experiences, and an unbeatable waterfront atmosphere, the 2025 Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival promises to be an unforgettable celebration on and off the water,” shares organizers.

All you have to do is make your way to the island this weekend! You’ll definitely want to.
