Iconic '90s Slasher Film Is Back—See the Chilling New Poster

11 June 20252 Mins Read

Nearly 30 years after its debut, an iconic 1990s slasher film is making its return with a chilling new poster. Two original cast members are reprising their roles, joining a new group of teens who accidentally kill an innocent person, only to find themselves hunted by a mysterious figure who knows exactly what they did.

I Know What You Did Last Summer focuses on five friends who cover up the accidental murder of a pedestrian in hopes of escaping the consequences. But one year later, a vengeful stalker emerges, and they’re determined to make them pay for the crime. Desperate and terrified, the group turns to the only people who might understand: survivors of the infamous 1997 Southport Massacre.

In the chilling new poster, Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt are seen reprising their roles as Ray Bronson and Julie James for the film’s 2025 installment. New faces to the series include Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, Lola Tung, Tyriq Withers, Austin Nichols, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez.

The tagline for the film is “The truth never stays buried.” As with the first two installments, 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer and 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, secrets come to light that should remain in the shadows.

The original film starred Prinze, Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe. The second installment saw Prinze and Hewitt’s return as survivors one year later, joined by Brandy and Mekhi Phifer.

The film series was a box office hit. The first movie grossed over $125M worldwide according to Fandom. The sequel, around $ 84M.

The film series is loosely based on the 1973 novel by Lois Duncan. I Know What You Did Last Summer hits theaters on July 18, 2025.
