Some of the warmest waters in the province are along a vast Ontario beach

17 June 20252 Mins Read

If you’re going to enjoy a beach day and some swimming, warm waters certainly help! Erieau Beach has some of the warmest waters along Lake Erie, making it the perfect place to lounge, dip and spend the day now that the dog days of summer are on the way.

Erieau Beach is nestled near Chatham, Ontario, about three hours by car from Toronto.

The shores are sandy and, according to its tourism website, it has “some of the warmest waters in all of Ontario.”

The beach’s shore is just steps from Erieau’s “quaint downtown” with ice cream shops, stores, delicious restaurants and a microbrewery.

Bayside Brewing Co. is one of the most popular stops, featuring locally made beers and a mouthwatering menu of bites such as deep-fried ravioli, four cheese spinach dip, flatbreads, coconut shrimp and fish tacos.

Parking by the beach is free, but you’ll want to plan ahead as the area fills up quickly on warm, sunny days.

There’s a paved boardwalk that leads to a lighthouse if you’re looking for a photo opportunity, too!

If your beach day works up an appetite, Molly & OJ’s Restaurant serves some perfect post-beach eats and is known for its fresh perch.

To finish off your day, stop for some ice cream! Mariner’s Cone and Shakes, located at 825 Mariners Rd, is just steps from the beach, so you can grab a cone and walk back down to the water to catch the sunset.

Summer days are just better by the beach, I don’t make the rules, Ontario.
