A first look at Alberta’s Rocky Mountain hotel and spa opening in 2027

17 June 20253 Mins Read

Canadian wellness retreats aren’t hard to come by, but in 2027, Alberta will open The Alexander Spa Hotel, reminding visitors that Alberta has relaxation down to a science.

Not your average getaway

Located in Canmore on historic farmland, this dreamy escape will be a game changer, especially if you’re looking to release some tension.

With 44 upscale suites designed for both solo retreats and group getaways, the Metaphor-built property will have a  9,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor spa space, be open year-round, and offer a variety of services.

From thermal treatments and hydrotherapy circuits to immersing customers in nature, this destination will be one to watch.

If that sounds incredible, just wait!

Not only will this spa encourage you to celebrate your surroundings, it will also honour them.

This adults-only escape will be powered by geo-exchange, making it Alberta’s first Built Green sustainable hotel.

The impact

Interested in checking it out?

Things are just getting started, but you can expect to see more than 100 full-time jobs pop up between now and its opening day.

The Alexander is also said to contribute to the province’s goal of doubling visitor spending by 2035, so it should definitely be on your radar.

The goal is to increase winter travel demand, and with cozy interiors and multiple ways to help people feel their very best, that really is a possibility.

What to do

Of course, if you don’t want to lounge the entire time you’re at the Alexander, there is also plenty to do in the area!

Nearby, you can enjoy Indigenous cultural experiences like guided tours and glamping, or you can explore the mountains, trails, and glacial lakes nearby.

It won’t be too much longer now, Alberta, so get ready, get set, and enjoy the relaxation.

Where: 300 Spring Creek Drive, Canmore, Alta.
