Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin in Only Murders In The Building are leading the charge in depicting age-gap friendships on TV.Craig Blankenhorn/The Associated Press

Pop culture is having a friendship age gap moment. In TV series like Hacks or Only Murders in the Building, we see young people creating a lasting bond with their elders.

And even though plenty of research has shown that we gravitate to friendships with people of a similar age as ours, these cross-generational friendships show younger generations have appreciation for what those older than them bring to their lives, and vice-versa: studies suggest intergenerational programs lead to decreased seniors’ feelings of loneliness and social isolation, while increasing well-being and quality of life.

Do you have a friendship with someone much younger or older than you? We want to hear about it. How did you meet? How do you spend your time together? What have you learned from each other? Have you had to adapt at all?
