Here’s how Edmonton is celebrating Canada Day this year

19 June 20252 Mins Read

The sun is shining, and another long weekend is hot on our heels. Alongside cities from coast to coast, Edmonton will soon celebrate Canada Day, and this year is going to be big.

Canada Day in Edmonton

On July 1, Canada will celebrate another year, and Edmonton has planned a little something for everyone.

From concerts and markets to food and fireworks, those looking to get out and about will be spoiled for choice.

Can’t wait to get things started? Here’s what the City of Champions has planned for 2025.

Love free food? This year, early birds will get the worm — and free pancakes! At 7 a.m., the Alberta Legislature Grounds will host a big breakfast, followed by the Canada Day Road Race, a citizenship ceremony, fun in the family zone, and live performances!

When: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
Time:  7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 10800 97th Ave., Edmonton
Admission: Free

The Works Festival will be in town, and as luck would have it, July 1 will be the last day you can check it out. While in the inner city, stop by to see some incredible art by local and national artists.

When: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
Time:  10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: 2 Sir Winston Churchill Sq., Edmonton
Admission: Free

Another year, another colourful fireworks display. This year, check out Queen Elizabeth Park and Hill, River Valley Road Trail, Victoria Park, or Ezio Faraone Park for an incredible view of the show, which is set to take the sky at 11 p.m.

Other good places to watch?

  • The Alberta Legislature Grounds
  • Walterdale Hill Road sidewalks and the East Promenade
  • Government House Park
  • 109 Street (between Saskatchewan Drive and the High Level Bridge)

When: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
Time:  11 p.m.
Where: Edmonton River Valley
Admission: Free

Love free admission? On July 1, reflect, wander, and learn (without reaching for your wallet) at the Art Gallery of Alberta. Here, you can explore exhibits, catch screenings, and take tours.

When: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
Time:  11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 2 Sir Winston Churchill Sq., Edmonton
Admission: Free
