Rarely-Seen 'Lady Marmalade' Singer Looks Stunning at 2025 Impact Awards

Raise your hand if “Lady Marmalade” was your jam either in 1974 when Patti LaBelle first recorded it, or in 2001 when Moulin Rouge made it a huge hit again. Us too!

On Friday, June 20, R&B singer Mya stepped out for the 5th Annual Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. The 45-year-old singer looked absolutely stunning in a short, flouncy skirt suit with high heels and a sleek and shaggy bob.

If you’ll recall, she teamed up with P!NK, Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim and Missy Elliott for the 2001 version of “Lady Marmalade” that hit No. 1 on the charts and stayed there for five weeks, 26 years after Labelle’s version reached No. 1. It made “Lady Marmalade” just the ninth song in history to top the U.S. charts separate times when performed by different artists.

After a string of late 1990s and early 2000s hits, Mya has largely been out of the spotlight for a while. She is still recording music, though — she released two studio albums in the last 10 years, Smoove Jones in 2016 and T.K.O (The Knock Out) in 2018. She has also released 12 non-album singles since 2020, including “You Got Me, Part II,” “Without You” with Alyx Ander, “Worth It,” and “Whine” with Bounty Killer, and “Face to Face.” She also joined Junior Sanchez on his 2024 hit “So Hype.”

The day before the Impact Awards, Mya was in Chicago for the Juneteenth Day R&B Music Experience alongside Ashanti, Lil Kim, Donell Jones and Lloyd. She also threw out the first pitch at a Chicago White Sox game.

She wrote on her Instagram post, “Happy #Juneteenth & hey #Chitown 👋🏽 Can’t wait to see you tonight @rnbmusicexperience @wintrustarena.”
