'The O.C.’ Star Knew One Line Would Make the Trailer — He Was Right

24 June 20252 Mins Read

Chris Carmack delivered one of The O.C.’s most iconic lines — and says he knew right away it was trailer material.

“Oh gosh, it was so long ago,” Carmack said when asked about his time on the show in an interview with Nerd Reactor published on June 23. “So I have to say, it’s a little bit of a blur because it happened so fast. It was my first big project. But I will forever remember our first episode – pilot episode – fight scene on the beach, freezing our butts off.”

He continued, “And of course, the iconic line, ‘Welcome to the OC, bitch!’ I knew when we filmed that, I was like, ‘Oh, that’s the promo right there.’”

As his new movie with Sophia Bush, The Stranger In My Home, becomes available on digital this week, Carmack has taken a few moments to reminisce about his days on The O.C. He previously told Page Six that his foray into fame was a little “uncomfortable.”

“The O.C. was a huge change for me when it came to anonymity. I remember when it first came out. I was doing my laundry at the laundromat, and people started pointing from the windows outside. And they started gathering as a crowd looking in,” Carmack recalled to the outlet in an article published on June 21. “I was very uncomfortable with it because I was unfamiliar with it.”

Carmack added that the attention back then was “different” than what celebrities are faced with today.

“Now, everybody’s got a camera on them and they want a picture and there’s sort of this kind of more quick and respectful way to share your space. Back then, it was just mayhem. So I grabbed my laundry out of the dryer, threw it in my bag and high-tailed it out of there,” the former Nashville star explained.
