The Marcus Portrush, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, has opened in Northern Ireland, coinciding with the upcoming 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club in July 2025.

Hilton has announced the opening of The Marcus Portrush, a new hotel under its Tapestry Collection brand, marking the brand’s entry into Northern Ireland. The hotel is in a restored Victorian building in Portrush and features 80 rooms. The opening is strategically timed to welcome guests for the 153rd Open Championship, scheduled at Royal Portrush Golf Club from July 13 to 20, 2025.

The Marcus Portrush was developed under a franchise agreement with Andras House Ltd, Northern Ireland’s largest hotel group. The hotel is expected to contribute approximately £1.1 million annually to the local economy through visitor spending and create over 40 permanent jobs. The building, which previously operated as a hotel and bakery from 1895 to the 1980s, underwent an £11 million renovation. The renovation preserved historical elements such as original mosaic signage and a tiled façade.

The hotel includes an Asian fusion restaurant named Nemesis, offering a menu that combines local and international flavors. The Heritage Cocktail Bar provides a selection of drinks featuring artisan Irish spirits. The hotel’s interiors draw inspiration from the surrounding North Atlantic coastline, integrating contemporary design with natural landscape elements.

Nearby attractions include the Bushmills Whiskey Distillery and the Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hotel aims to cater to tourists visiting these sites and those attending the golf championship.

The Marcus Portrush is the only internationally branded hotel in Portrush, positioning it as a significant addition to the local hospitality sector. The development is part of a broader effort to enhance Portrush’s appeal as a tourist destination. The hotel is expected to contribute to the area’s economic development by attracting international visitors and providing modern accommodations.
