It’s no secret that Dateline‘s Andrea Canning was roommates with Ryan Seacrest in the ’90s, but now we have photographic proof.
Canning shared a photo of herself and Seacrest hugging in front of a door on Instagram this week, and it’s got the internet in a frenzy.
The pair is smiling in the photo, with Canning’s arms wrapped around the Wheel of Fortune host’s neck. His arm is stretched across her back, with the other arm at his side.

Canning captioned the photo, “Throwing it back to 1997 @ryanseacrest#roomies.”

One commenter suggested that “Andrea dodged a bullet? They looked cute, though.”
However, Seacrest and Canning really were just roommates, and the American Idol host has opened up about this in the past.

In 2013, on his syndicated radio program (via US Weekly), Seacrest spoke about his old roommate, saying, “We actually, the three guys that lived together prior, we decided that we should look for a stranger.”
He continued, “But, even better, we should have a girl stranger move in who can help us recruit [women] because we were 22 and completely single. . . At the time when we were going out it was much easier to meet a girl if we had a girl with us, as opposed to just three guys being together. That was part of Andrea moving in. We were like, ‘We’re going to need your help here!'”
During that radio show, Canning called in to talk about the old days.
“This came out of the blue!” Canning exclaimed. “I met you at one of your raging parties. We all ended up having those parties, but that’s what I remember the most. They were so much fun!”
