There’s an Ontario park famous for its towering cliffs and majestic waterfalls

27 June 20252 Mins Read

If you’re someone who enjoys the great outdoors, this Ontario park has it all. Quetico Provincial Park is an “iconic wilderness class park,” meaning there’s no shortage of stunning sights, including cliffs and flowing waterfalls.

With 2,000 lakes and 460,000 hectares of remote wilderness, Quetico is the ultimate place for some exploration this summer.

According to Ontario Parks, “Quetico is renowned for its rugged beauty, towering rock cliffs, majestic waterfalls, virgin pine and spruce forests, picturesque rivers and lakes.”

You’re going to have to be ready to hit one of the lakes or rivers if you’re planning a visit, as this park is only accessible by water.

If you’re an avid canoer, then be sure to hit up one of the Ranger Stations and get some assistance in planning a canoe trip, some of which can be planned for up to a week in length.

An example of one of the trips is the Baptism Creek-Cache Lake Loop, stretching 123 km over six days across 18 lakes and 20 portages.

Quetico Provincial Park is also a recognized International Dark Sky Park. The park received a designation from the International Dark Sky Association (IDA) for its beautiful views of the night sky. If you want to witness meteor showers and moon phases, this is your spot.

Stay at the Dawson Trail Campground if you’d like to explore 35 km of hiking trails, ranging from easy to moderate difficulty.

Hope you’re ready for an adventure, Ontario!
