London Mansion With Rock ’n’ Roll Past Lists for $16.4 Million

30 June 20252 Mins Read

A multimillion-dollar mansion in one of London’s most exclusive neighborhoods that used to be the home of rock legend, Sting—is now on the market.

Tucked away at the heart of Hampstead Village, Frognal, the home sits in a Georgian-era enclave and is available for the first time in more than 35 years for $16.4 million.

The lavish manor, known for its historic charm and architectural variety, boasts three stories, which include five bedrooms, three reception rooms, two kitchens and a two-story gabled porch.

One of the home’s more unexpected highlights was its rooftop terrace—a wide-open space showcasing the picturesque view across the London skyline.

Thanks to its quietly upscale atmosphere, the property is ideal for those seeking character-rich living with the perfect blend of greenery and city access.

Among those who were captivated by the striking beauty and ambiance of the estate is the former The Police frontman.

Sting, whose real name is Gordon Sumner, acquired the 4,300-square-foot property in 1980 with his first wife Frances Tomelty, according to the London Evening Standard.

In the same report, Sting’s biographer, Christopher Sandford, noted that although the mansion appeared grand, it was still considered modest compared to the ultra-luxurious estates owned by other rock stars.

Two years later, in 1982, the Grammy winner listed the house for sale and moved to The Grove in Highgate with his new partner—and now wife—Trudie Styler, Sandford said.

Besides the Every Breath You Take hitmaker, the $16.4 million property used to be the residence of Russian prima ballerina, Tamara Karsavina.
