The 37th Annual Toronto Fringe Festival Comes At You July 2 – 13, 2025 – front mezz junkies, Theater News

1 July 20253 Mins Read

Frontmezzjunkies reports: The 37th Annual Toronto Fringe Festival is about to begin: July 2 – 13, 2025

(Toronto, Ontario): The 37th Annual Toronto Fringe Festival is about to get underway with over 100 shows in over 20 venues across the city taking place July 2 – 13, 2025 – plus free programming at Soulpepper Theatre, the new festival hub in the Distillery Historic District. Toronto Fringe is excited to announce that some performances have already sold out, and 2025 pre-sales are the strongest they have ever been, with over 12,000 tickets issued so far. Tickets and passes are on sale now at www.fringetoronto.com.

The Toronto Fringe is Ontario’s largest performance festival and will host the legendary Fringe Patio in the Soulpepper Courtyard, with several free events at Soulpepper Theatre‘s Garland Cabaret and across the lane at Old Flame Brewery. Free programming includes Opening Day Kick Off & Artist Parade on July 2; Hot Seat variety show hosted by Tita Collective on July 3; Comedy Night with Faiza Kulle, Sarah Bennett, Bee Bertrand, Nour Hadidi, Tim Blair, and Rena Taylor on July 4; Live Band Karaoke with Good Enough Live Karaoke on July 5; Fringe Trivia with magician Keith Brown and Jeopardy! champion Nam Nguyen on July 6; Games Night hosted by Roz Poutine and DeVery Bess of The Toronto Queer Nerd Collective on July 8; Indie Drag & Burlesque with Fairla Fox, Kuya Atay, Kage Wolf, Aza Lia, Willy Shakes, Dank Sinatra, and Janis Jameson on July 11; Silent Disco on July 12; and the Closing Night Party on July 13.

Frontmezzjunkies is super excited to be seeing three shows on (sadly) the one day that I will be in Toronto during this amazing festival: Mathew’s Big Broadway Bash, Puzzles, and Jack Goes to Therapy: A Somewhat Romantic Comedy. All on July 5th.

Toronto Fringe is also happy to host KidsFest Club Pop-Ups on July 5, 6, and 12 with programming for the whole family! These free activities, programmed before and after KidsFest shows at Soulpepper Theatre‘s Kevin & Roger Garland Cabaret, will include arts and crafts, building blocks, costumes, puppets, face-painting, story times, and more.

The Fringe Patio will also host community events and specialized programming such as the Indie Artsworker Mixer on July 7; the 24-Hour Playwriting Contest Reading of Spencer Jean Allder’s winning play God is a Tree, is my Mother, is me, generously supported by the Pat & Tony Adams Freedom Fund for the Arts, on July 8; the Youth Open Mic hosted by Will Parry on July 11, and Awards Night on July 11.

The 37th annual Toronto Fringe Festival also includes the Next Stage Series, where Fringe audiences have the chance to experience four curated productions that are moving to the “next stage” of their development. The Next Stage Series includes Justice for Maurice Henry Carter, and Songs by a WANNABE at Soulpepper’s Michael Young Theatre; and Have Fun Kids, and Siranoush at Soulpepper’s Tank House Theatre.

The Toronto Fringe Festival is a platform for innovative theatre and performance where all ticket revenue goes straight to the artists.

Toronto Fringe is a grassroots, charitable organization that runs the annual Toronto Fringe Festival each July. Toronto Fringe offers various year-round programs that benefit youth, emerging artists, BIPOC artists, artists with disabilities, and the performing arts community at large. Embedded in Fringe’s operations are the values of Access, Accountability, Creativity, Exploration, and Support.
