A quiet Ontario beach is along a protected bay with sandy shores

2 July 20252 Mins Read

The hustle and bustle of a busy beach can be fun, but sometimes you need a quiet shore to lounge on. Jones Beach, located in St. Catharines, Ontario, offers everything you need for the ultimate day by the water and even has a trail you can check out.

If you’re planning on driving to Jones Beach, then you’re in luck, as the area includes free on-site parking.

According to St. Catherine’s website, “The quiet and peaceful Jones Beach is located in a protected bay on Lake Ontario, with a picturesque view of the lake and small lighthouse beacon.”

Sounds like it’s straight out of a storybook! It’s a quick walk from the parking lot to the lighthouse if you’re hoping to take a look, but if you want even more exercise, then be sure to head over to the Welland Canals Trail.

The Welland Canals Trail stretches a whopping 42 km from St. Catharines through Thorold, Welland, and Port Colborne.

This trail is mainly used for biking, but there are spots for pedestrians, and the views are well worth the journey.

Because the beach is on a protected bay, those who visit are asked to respect the area and the wildlife and keep the beach area clean.

Jones Beach is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., so plan for a whole day away from home and enjoy the quiet shores.
