Caitlyn Jenner‘s longtime friend and personal manager Sophia Hutchins has died. She was just 29.
Hutchins, who has been close friends with Jenner for almost a decade, was pronounced dead on Wednesday (July 2) following a tragic ATV accident near Jenner’s Malibu home.
According to TMZ, who first reported the news, Hutchins was riding the vehicle on the road where Jenner lives when she collided with the bumper of a moving car. The impact forced Hutchins over the shoulder of the road and she plummeted 350 feet down into a ravine.
Hutchins was pronounced dead on the scene. The other vehicle was carrying two passengers who were unharmed. It’s unclear if Jenner was present during the fatal accident but there were no other injuries reported.
Jenner and Hutchins have been friends since 2015, shortly after Jenner announced her transition. Hutchins, who had also recently transitioned, was featured on Jenner’s reality show, I Am Cait.
“We have so much in common; we see the world so similarly and we both are such a good match for each because we challenge each other,” Hutchins once said on The Hidden Truth with Jim Breslo.
She continued, “She challenges me in so many ways, has allowed me to grow in so many ways and I hope I challenge her to grow and I think because we share so many of the same passions and views, it’s just a great match, a great partnership.”
Before her passing, Hutchins served as CEO and director of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation and had recently become involved as a political commentator, appearing on Fox News on several occasions. According to her LinkedIn, she was also founder and CEO of health technology company LUMASOL and president of Sophia Hutchins Consulting.
Jenner has not yet spoken out about Hutchins’ passing. Our thoughts are with her loved ones during this difficult time.
