Burano in Italy Named the World’s Most Colourful Destination, Canada Reviews

7 July 20252 Mins Read

Don’t get us wrong, monochrome can be beautiful (check out this gorgeous art deco building in London, for example). But a splash of colour can really breathe some life into a place, right?

Well, it certainly has at these spots. Creative studio Berlew has conducted some analysis into just how colourful 125 of the world’s top travel destinations are. How? Well, by putting high-resolution images taken by on-street photographers through ‘computer vision technology’, identifying the five most prominent colours in each.

From there, 625 colour palettes were produced, and the ‘chromatic diversity’ and the ‘vibrancy intensity’ of each place was assessed. Long story short, there’s some kind of scientific backing to this analysis (even if we don’t really know what it all means) – and the result is a dazzling roundup of the planet’s most colourful places, based on the ones with the highest overall score.

Stealing the colour crown is the vibrant Venetian island of Burano, where pretty much every street is plastered in blue, red, green and yellow, from the walls and window frames to doors and shutters of the buildings.

Chefchaouen in Morocco came second, and Guatapé in Colombia came third, but that’s enough talk – scroll on for the full top 10 roundup of the world’s most colourful places, complete with pictures.
