Fans are sending Jean Smart all love after she was forced to put her most recent project on pause after sustaining an injury to one of her knees.
The legendary actress is currently starring in the world premiere of the one-woman show Call Me Izzy at Studio 54—her first Broadway show in 25 years. The production, which opened in May, is scheduled for an incredibly limited engagement through Aug. 17.
Unfortunately, the Hacks star had to take a step back to nurse the injury, with the show’s official Instagram account announcing on Tuesday, July 8, “Jean Smart has injured her knee, and we look forward to having her back on stage as soon as she recovers.”

Fans flooded the comments with love and concern, with most replies reading something along the lines of, “Sending love your way, Jean! Hoping for a quick recovery. ❤️.”
Smart later shared the post to her Instagram Story, adding, “Thank you so much for all of the well wishes ❤️🩹 looking forward to a speedy recovery!”
The show later reported that two-time Tony Award nominee Johanna Day will be covering for Smart through July 11, though it’s unclear at this time if Smart will be returning on the 12th or if someone else may play the role after.
