Torontonians are urged to avoid these sexual enhancement products due to ‘serious’ risks, Life in canada

10 July 20253 Mins Read

Health Canada has issued a public advisory following the seizure of numerous unauthorized sexual enhancement products from various businesses across the GTA.

These products, sold without proper approval, have been found to contain prescription medications that may pose significant health risks.

Laboratory testing revealed that many of the confiscated products contained tadalafil and sildenafil, both prescription drugs commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction. In most cases, these products contained a combination of both medications, despite being marketed as over-the-counter supplements or herbal remedies.

While tadalafil and sildenafil can be safe and effective when prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional and used under medical supervision, their unsupervised consumption can lead to serious health complications.

Health Canada strongly warns against the use of these drugs without a prescription, especially for individuals who are taking nitrate-based medications such as nitroglycerin. The interaction between these drugs can cause a sudden and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure.

Individuals with pre-existing heart conditions face an increased risk of severe cardiovascular side effects, including heart attack, stroke, chest pain, elevated blood pressure, and irregular heartbeat. Additional side effects may include headache, facial flushing, indigestion, dizziness, vision disturbances, and hearing loss.

If you have purchased or used any of the following products from the listed retail locations, Health Canada advises that you stop using them immediately and seek medical advice if you experience any adverse symptoms.
