Will the Beck Brothers Return for the 'Yellowstone' Spinoff? Neal McDonough Thinks So

11 July 20253 Mins Read

If you’re a fan of Yellowstone, then you’ll know who the Beck Brothers are. The villains of Season 2 of Yellowstone, the two sibling real etate moguls, were intent on taking the Dutton land, in hopes of changing the power dynamic in their favor.

Malcolm (Neal McDonough) and Teal ( Terry Serpico) Beck took to unconventional means of doing it. Between torturing Beth (Kelly Reilly) and kidnapping young Tate Dutton (Breckin Merrill), the brothers thought they had everything in the bag, but they weren’t prepared for being in a bag themselves – a body bag, that is. While the younger Beck (Teal) met his maker while on the toilet, McDonough, who played the elder Beck brother Malcolm, believes he is still very much alive.

You may recall, at the end of Season 2, after sending henchmen to beat up Beth and kidnap Tate, both John (Kevin Costner) and Kayce (Luke Grimes) catch up to the brothers separately. After Kayce extracts the whereabouts of his son from Teal, he unceremoniously kills him and sets it up as a suicide. Later, John gets into a gunfight with Malcolm. John, being the better shot than Malcolm, offers him a chance to get to the hospital or leave him to die. Malcolm chooses the latter. We assume he died alone in that field, but did he?

According to Neal McDonough, Malcolm is alive and well, and ready for revenge. The actor told Collider, “Yes, Malcolm Beck is not dead. No one saw him actually die in the field. I would love to see him come back and cause havoc with Rip because Cole Hauser was one of my dearest pals, and there’s nothing I would love more than to go toe to toe with Cole on the show.”

There is certainly an opportunity for Malcolm to return to the Yellowstone fold. Two separate spinoffs are in the works. One with Beth and Rip, the other with Kayce.

The first series will star Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, who have already signed deals to reprise their characters, Beth and Rip. The currently untitled series will follow the two after the events in the Yellowstone series finale.

Meanwhile, Luke Grimes will star in Y: Marshals (working title). In it, Grimes reprises his role as Kayce Dutton, who was a former Navy SEAL. With the Yellowstone ranch behind him, Kayce joins an elite team of marshals, doling out justice on the Montana range. The show will be a mid-season replacement on CBS.

And, of course, McDonough also has the possibility of reprising his character on Tulsa King where he played Cal Thresher, a local marijuana kingping that Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) takes down in Season 2. Dwight lets Cal live as long as he leaves the pot business altogether. Cal agrees, but will he return to Tulsa in some other capacity?

McDonough can currently be seen in Skillhouse,Homestead and The Last Rodeo.Skillhouse is available in select theatres. Both Homesteadand The Last Rodeo are available to rent/stream on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and other similar streaming services. McDonough’s previous credits include The Shift, American Horror Story, and Van Helsing.
