'The Pioneer Woman': Pregnancy News Hits the Ranch, Who's Expecting?

14 July 20252 Mins Read

In June, The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond announced a new YouTube series offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into everyday life on the Drummond Ranch. The series highlights everything from ranch work to family updates, keeping viewers connected to the ranchers and their families. In the latest episode, pregnancy news takes center stage, but who’s expecting might surprise viewers.

The latest episode of Drummond Ranch features Alex Drummond Scott, daughter of Ree and Ladd Drummond, who returns home to lend a hand with ranch duties. Before marrying Mauricio Scott, relocating to Texas, and becoming a mom to Sofia Scott, Alex spent years working alongside her parents on the ranch.

However, the pregnancy spotlight wasn’t on Alex; it was all about the cattle. She joined Ladd and the ranch crew to help pregnancy check their cows and to wean the larger calves from their mothers, a demanding, all-day task that began at 4:30 a.m. and continued under the sweltering Oklahoma sun.

The new clip is titled, “A Long Day in the Saddle.” Its official description reads, “It’s weaning day on Drummond Ranch, and that means an early start, long hours, hard work, and steady hands.”

“In this episode, Ladd and his brother Tim Drummond, the cowboy crew, and Ladd’s daughter Alex work together to separate larger calves from their pregnant mamas—a job that takes patience, discernment, and skill.”

The description concludes, “Watch as the team navigates a tricky creek crossing on horseback, preg-tests the cows, and pushes through the heat and dust to get the job done right. It’s a tough but important job in a cow-calf operation.”

The family weaned calves born the previous fall. With the mother cows pregnant again, the older calves needed to be separated so the mothers could focus on their new babies.

This calf gathering encompassed 500 pairs of cows and calves. The operation began as the sun rose and the crew worked for many hours before taking a break, finishing up around 7:30 that evening.

Ladd revealed that this type of ranch work is demanding, exhausting, and never-ending. He said that “every morning, seems like we are getting up early, working, always got something to do.”

New episodes of Drummond Ranch premiere Sundays on YouTube. The Pioneer Woman airs on Food Network.
