BURY YOUR GAZE – Audition
Incendiary Festival is seeking actors for a new show entitled BURY YOUR GAZE, by JACK ORION, directed by Jack Orion.
Questions can be emailed to [email protected]
Show Description:
This show is quite physical. There will be movement involved, based on the selected cast’s abilities. (Note this should not deter actors with physical disabilities, and different body types from auditioning. We want to see you!)
“Maybe it was the long drive back to her hometown. Maybe it was the shock of hearing too late that her closest friend had died. Maybe it was the way that everything gets a little weird late at night. Whatever it is, Raven is digging up a body and maybe a lot more.”
Bury Your Gaze is my own exploration of my past DID.
“Dissociative identity disorder (DID) is a mental health condition where you have two or more separate personalities that control your behaviour at different times. When personalities switch, you’ll have gaps in your memory. The identities are usually caused by living through trauma. Psychotherapy can help you manage your symptoms.”
*It is important that the actors understand that it is a fight for autonomy of the same body. They are the same person. This is not a case of “host and parasite”. It is their body. They are both the host and the alter. A person who is split, not incomplete.

Characters:
Please also note that actors will have some intimacy. There will be intimacy coordination.
RAVEN: 25. female identifying. rough around the edges. Raven is scared and defensive, but being around Lottie softens her demeanour. Rethinking a lot of life choices right now. She is at her breaking point.
LOTTIE: 25. female identifying. Lottie is a small-town girl left behind by her girlfriend. She is gentle, intelligent and is not quite alive right now. There is more behind the naivety and softness that Lottie is playing at.
