There’s a charming coastal town in B.C. that’s surrounded by idyllic beaches

14 July 20252 Mins Read

Comox Valley is a nature lover’s paradise. It’s home to the oldest park in the province, scenic lakes, meandering rivers, and majestic mountain views. And the oceanside Town of Comox is the ideal spot to centre your visit on your next trip to the Island.

Named after the Salish word “Koumuckthay” (“Land of Plenty”), Comox has plenty to offer adventure lovers. The Port of Comox was first established in the mid-19th century, and now boasts a vibrant downtown core, marina, extensive greenways, parks, and a nine-hole golf course.

The nearby Strathcona Park features one of the highest waterfalls in the country (Della Falls), which drops 440 metres in three cascades.

Those who prefer to explore the downtown area can sightsee along the Comox Harbour Promenade, stopping to check out a museum or art gallery, or perusing the gardens at Filberg Park.

You can even hop on a Heritage Trolley Tour ($20 per adult) if you want to see downtown and greater Comox without all the steps!

Four-hour Whale & Wildlife Tours start at $199 per person, and stand-up paddle boards and kayaks can be rented for $55 a pop.

Looking for a good local swimming hole? Consider taking a dip at the Goose Spit.

So there you have it, summer adventurers. There’s plenty here to kickstart your visit to Comox.

Comox

How to get there: Take a ferry from Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver, to Nanaimo and drive one hour and 35 minutes to Comox via BC-19 N.
