Compensation: $30 – $35 per hour
Start Date: September 13, 2024

About Us
Stagecoach Performing Arts has been inspiring young performers for over 30 years, with a presence in hundreds of communities around the world. We offer high-quality, part-time training in singing, dancing, and acting for students aged 4–14, helping them develop not only performance skills, but also confidence, creativity, and resilience that will serve them in all aspects of life.

Our programs are structured to nurture students at every level—from enthusiastic beginners to more experienced young actors. We believe we are giving our students Creative Courage for Life, and foster a warm, encouraging environment where students feel empowered to take creative risks and express themselves.

As a Drama Teacher, you’ll typically work with three age groups across the day: Ages 6–9, Ages 10–13, Ages 13-16. These groups rotate between singing, dancing, and drama classes in small ensemble sizes. As the drama teacher, you’ll work from your own room, receiving each group for their dedicated drama session.

Each class should blend skill-building with creativity—ranging from improvisation games and script work to devise scenes and prepare for showcases or musical theatre productions.

Lessons are planned in advance and aligned with term themes or performance goals, with plenty of room for your own creativity and professional style.

You’ll be part of a supportive teaching team, all working together to create a safe, structured, and joyful performing arts experience.

Key Responsibilities
• Teach drama to students aged 6–14 in weekly classes (Saturday mornings, 10-1)
• Plan and deliver creative, age-appropriate lessons in acting technique, improvisation, and scene work
• Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages self-expression and growth
• Collaborate with singing and dance teachers to support ensemble and performance goals
• Assist in directing end-of-term performances and showcases

Qualifications
• Experience teaching or directing children and youth in drama or theatre
• Background in acting, theatre, or performing arts (education or professional)
• Energetic, reliable, and passionate about working with young people
• Ability to manage and inspire students of varying ages and experience levels
• Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain one)

Why Join Stagecoach?
• Be part of a creative and supportive team
• Help build confidence and skills that last a lifetime
• Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
• Competitive pay for part-time hours
• Opportunity to direct showcases and performances
