Multi-level dining destination with mix of restaurants taking over buzzy Toronto address

15 July 20253 Mins Read

A swanky social club in Toronto is about to get an entirely new lease on life as it transforms into an epic four-storey restaurant.

It’s been months since exclusive King West social club and event venue Clio and its luxe Mediterranean restaurant, Margo, mysteriously closed their doors temporarily, with little more than a notice posted to Margo’s social media accounts promising a “new era coming this spring,” urging its audience to “stay tuned.”

Occupying a prime, four-storey location in the heart of the King West nightlife strip at King and Portland, there was no chance that anything less than exceptional could take over from the members-only club. And though spring has come and gone, we finally have our answer on what it is.

Opening its doors at the end of July, the latest iteration of the space at 600 King St. W. is a new concept called Portland Square, perhaps the most ambitious the location has ever seen.

Helmed by Ink Entertainment, the major hospitality company behind a slew of restaurants and nightlife venues across the city, Portland Square is billed as “King West’s hottest new multi-level dining and nightlife destination,” and it might just have a legitimate bid for the title.

More of a complex than a single restaurant, Portland Square sees all four floors of Clio transformed into four distinct dining and nightlife experiences; a choose-your-own-adventure, of sorts, albeit eradicating the need to wander aimlessly up and down King West while you try to figure out where to go on a Saturday night.

Now that Portland Square has entered the chat, you only have to worry about wandering up and down a maximum of four flights of stairs. It’s a small win, but for those who’ve found themselves strolling King West on a night out in the dead of winter, not an insignificant one.

On the ground floor, you’re greeted with Rodeo Drive, a casual, country-themed sports bar, followed by the property’s event space, Portland Room, on the second floor.

On the third floor, Honey Chinese will serve up modern Chinese cuisine. Finally, Prima Donna on the fourth floor will be an opulent destination for contemporary Italian cuisine, and, of course, the rooftop will add a seasonal space for drinks al fresco.

It’s ambitious, yes, but that seems like just the sort of thing Ink Entertainment is keen on these days.

Earlier this month, the hospitality heavyweights transformed their splashy seafood restaurant, Pink Sky, into a sultry new vinyl bar called Vinny. Earlier this spring, they unveiled a major relaunch of their Spanish restaurant, Patria, as Beso by Patria.

In other words, 2025 has been a busy year so far down on King West and, with Portland Square scheduled to launch in a little over a week, that momentum won’t be slowed any time soon.

Portland Square will debut at 600 King St. W. on July 24, 2025.
