Vancouver’s Science World to host its first outdoor adults-only night this summer

16 July 20253 Mins Read

Science World’s popular After Dark series is back and better than ever, granting adults free rein over all the exhibits — with a new summer twist. The museum’s first-ever outdoor summer party is coming up this August, and it’s set to bring the adults-only experience to a whole new level.

So if getting buzzed at Science World on a Thursday night sounds like a blast, get ready to mark your calendars.

With admission, adults are free to explore six permanent galleries at the museum, as well as the newly launched Artemis Space Adventure with LEGO® Bricks exhibition, where guests can discover larger-than-life LEGO sculptures, take part in hands-on engineering challenges, and check out some creative workshop stations.

And if you work up an appetite, there’s always food from Triple O’s to fuel your evening.

The outdoor portion of the night will commence at 6 p.m. at the Ken Spence Science Park, which will transform with live music by B.C. musicians Ian Cromwell and Lenny Paller. Outdoor survival expert Brento in the Backcountry and Parks Canada will also be in attendance to answer any burning wilderness and adventure queries.

Guests can also watch bottle rockets blast off from the outdoor stage — a fun taste of nostalgia if you ever combined Coke and Mentos as a kid.

Attendees are also welcome to build their own DIY magnet detectors and head inside at 9 p.m. for a mesmerizing display of the musical Tesla coil.

According to organizers, the main event is a futuristic spectacle from the LED lights dance troupe, Silver Sisterz, who will perform throughout the evening in dazzling, glowing costumes.

Of course, you can always grab a refreshing beer in the park or at Science World to soak up the summer vibes. In addition to After Dark activities, you’ll be able to explore the park’s Gardening Robot, the Wetland Revitalization, and go on a contemplative walk on the Reflection Walk.

So there you have it, Vancouver. If interactive science exhibits are calling your name, we say go for it!

The indoor-outdoor Sparks and Rec event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, from 6 to 10 p.m.

When: Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025
Time: 6 to 10 p.m.
Where: 1455 Quebec St.
Cost: $34.95
