Enjoy the summer sun under one of Edmonton’s outdoor pools

It’s the season to swim! With the long summer days and boiling summer heat, all anyone wants is to take a dip and enjoy a swim outdoors. There are more than a handful of outdoor pools within the city limits, and even more to explore outside.

Now, let’s dive right into the outdoor pools open this summer in and around the Edmonton area.

Outdoor pools within Edmonton

Fred Broadstock Outdoor Pool

Whether it’s one meter or three, feel free to jump off the diving board at Fred Broadstock Outdoor Pool and into the water.

Located in West Edmonton, this pool offers a family-friendly atmosphere with amenities such as a dryland basketball hoop, a children’s teach pool, and surrounding picnic tables.

Time: Public swim available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

Cost:
$6.25+ or free for children under two

Mill Creek Outdoor Pool

Surrounded by the greenery of the adjacent parklands and trails, Mill Creek Outdoor Pool is a picturesque escape to cool off from the sun. This pool features large picnic table fixtures and a large tanning area for those just looking to relax.

Time: Public swim available from noon to 8 p.m. daily

Cost:
$6.25+ or free for children under two

Queen Elizabeth Outdoor Pool and Kinsmen Spray Park

Both the pool and the spray park, combined with surrounding attractions around the river valley, make this spot the perfect place for a hot summer day.

Don’t worry if you forgot the snacks; Queen Elizabeth Outdoor Pool operates its own concession on site.

Time: Public swim available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: 9170 Walterdale Hill, Edmonton, Alta.

$6.25+ or free for children under two

Wîhkwêntôwin Outdoor Pool

Located in the downtown core, Wîhkwêntôwin Outdoor Pool is ideal for city residents seeking an outdoor escape.

Time: Public swim available from noon to 8 p.m.
Where:
10315 119 St., Edmonton, Alta.
Cost:
$6.25+ or free for children under two

Borden Natural Swimming Pool

This pool acts as Canada’s first public, man-made, natural swimming pool where no chemicals are used to disinfect the water. The spot is perfect for lounging in the summer sun, complete with a sandy exterior and plenty of lounge space.

Borden Natural Swimming Pool is currently closed until July 21 for maintenance, and hours are subject to change.

Outdoor pools just outside the city

Grosvenor Outdoor Pool

Outside the city limits, the Grosvenor Outdoor Pool is located in St. Albert, just north of Edmonton. This facility features both a large leisure pool and a deep-diving tank to cater to every swimmer’s needs.

If you’re not too interested in the water, feel free to check out their Splash Deck Café.

Time: Public swim available from noon to 9 p.m.

1 Grenfell Ave., St. Albert, Alta.
Cost: 
$5+ or free for children under two

Stony Plain Outdoor Pool and Spray Park

Stony Plain’s Outdoor Pool has been making a splash in the community for over 50 years. They return this summer for another year of summer fun, operating the outdoor pool and spray park for children and adults to enjoy the sun together.

Time: Public swim varies
Where:
5210 55th Ave., Stony Plain, Alta.
Cost:
$5+ or free for children age five and under
