How to fast travel between layers in Donkey Kong Bananza

20 July 20253 Mins Read

Your journey to the core of the world in Donkey Kong Bananza will leave you wishing to go back and fast travel to previous layers. Whether you want to collect every Banandium Gem in each layer or just want to be sure your closet has all the coolest clothes, returning to layers you have already visited has many advantages.

Below, we explain how to fast travel between layers in Donkey Kong Bananza as well as how to fast travel within a layer.

How to fast travel to previous layers in Donkey Kong Bananza

Progressing in Donkey Kong Bananza’s campaign forces you to jump to new areas, but you can fast travel to previous layers by using the Warp Gong. This system becomes available once you have reached Hilltop Layer, SL200.

In the main villages of each layer, you’ll find a Warp Gong indicated by a blue icon of an archway covering a circle. Look for a glowing triangular platform to find the gong among the stores in the villages.

To activate the gong, go full Bananza style and punch it. After doing so, the Warp Gong calls the Eelavator, a large eel-like creature that can take you to other layers.

You can’t teleport to layers you haven’t unlocked. On the other hand, there are no costs involved in teleporting from one layer to another. Feel free to avail yourself of the Eelavator’s services at no cost to backtrack your progression and grab any items you’ve missed.

How to fast travel within a layer in Donkey Kong Bananza

Some sublayers in Donkey Kong Bananza are quite big, and walking (or Turf Surfing) to previous segments within a layer might take too much time. You can use checkpoints to teleport (or “teeleport”) and travel faster to some locations.

In Donkey Kong Bananza, you’ll regularly find tuning forks trapped in gold in important locations within a layer. When you break it free, the tuning forks become a check point. To teleport to them, open the minimap and select the checkpoint closest to the place you want to go.

Now, you don’t have to rely only on check points for a quick jump from one side of a layer to another. If you find an Architectone — a blue-walled, yellow-ceiling house-like fractone — you can pay gold to have them build a Getaway.

Getaways are special locations where you rest to recover health, listen to the songs from the discs you collected, and change clothes. Plus, by selecting a Getaway on the minimap, you can teleport to it.

You want to have as many Getaways available as you can, but the cost to build them starts at 100 and rises by 100 gold for each you already have in that layer — not that gathering gold is that much of problem in the first place.
