All the car-free street festivals to check out in Metro Vancouver this summer

22 July 20253 Mins Read

Ready for some more summer fun that won’t hurt your wallet? Metro Vancouver is getting a whole host of car-free days between now and the end of September, and they’re set to bring all-day festivities to a street near you. Third spaces, where residents of a community can gather and connect, are more important than ever, and it’s always nice when these spaces offer an environment free of vehicles and traffic. So lace up your walking shoes and get ready to explore a local community hub for all ages.

In total, eight car-free days are popping up across Metro Vancouver, from Port Moody to North Vancouver. In Vancouver, the Car Free Vancouver Society has two upcoming street festivals planned along Main Street and Commercial Drive this September, set to transform the bustling streets into pedestrian havens.

At all the Car Free Days, guests can expect live music and entertainment all day long, in addition to tasty food trucks and vendors, local artisans, and family-friendly activities and games.

While walking and biking to a festival near you is encouraged, it’s never a bad idea to hop on transit if you’ve got a longer journey ahead of you. In fact, TransLink’s Next Stop: Summer passports are the perfect way to get the biggest bang for your buck, allowing passengers to collect stamps and enter for a chance to win some cool prizes.
