Over 200 corgis will take over Montreal streets during 2 free festival events this August

23 July 20252 Mins Read

Montreal’s fluffiest festival is back. And this year, it’s bringing even more paws to the party.

The 5th edition of Corgi Pawty MTL is set to take over the city with not one but two free public gatherings where hundreds of corgis and their humans will strut, pose, and show off their signature waddle. The festival, which drew thousands of fans last year, is open to everyone — even if you don’t have a dog.

The first event, the Corgi Balade, is happening Thursday, August 28 at 6 p.m. as part of the Ramen Ramen de Rue street food festival in Griffintown. The group walk starts at Place du Marché Atwater and ends at Hangar 1825, where the ramen fest (and a new pizza street festival called Pizza Matta) will be in full swing. Entry to the food site is free for corgi owners (up to two people per pup) and $5 for everyone else.

Then on Saturday, August 30, the corgis will be back for the annual Corgi Pawrade along Saint-Laurent Boulevard during Festival BLVD. Starting at 4 p.m. from Place Guilbault, the crowd will gather for a group photo around 5 p.m. before marching to Parc des Amériques in a themed “Interstellar” . The event wraps with a best-dressed corgi contest around 5:45 p.m.

According to organizers, over 70 dogs are already registered, and all events are free and open to the public. Registration is still open for corgi owners who want to participate.

Kombu, the festival’s official corgi spokesperson, may have said it best in the event press release: “This is the time of year to bark, socialize, and make the city wiggle with joy. The Corgi Pawty was created to celebrate our charming personalities, encourage warm connections between humans and dogs, and above all… to have fun without pressure or competition.”
