Get ready for an exciting long weekend, Edmonton! We’ve got a basketball festival, a guided lazy river experience, and the world’s largest outdoor celebration of multiculturalism on our itinerary. Here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Edmonton this weekend (Aug. 1 to 4).

The world’s largest outdoor celebration of multiculturalism is back at Borden Park for three days of global cultural performances, eats, and vendors, with groups from countries such as Pakistan, Fiji, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and many more.

When: Saturday, Aug. 2 to Sunday, Aug. 4, 2025
Time: Noon to 9 p.m., 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: 7515 118th Ave., Edmonton
Cost: Free admission

The Edmonton Riverhawks are up against the Kelowna Falcons at Re/Max field this week, and the evening’s theme is an ABBA Dance Party.

When: Friday, Aug. 1, 2025
Time: 7:05 p.m.
Where: 9220 111th Ave. NW, Edmonton
Cost: $13 to $25+

At this basketball festival in West Edmonton Mall, professionals and Olympians from around the world will be squaring off to earn critical ranking points and cash prizes. Admission is free for this family-friendly festival full of fun.

When: Thursday, July 31, 2025, to Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025
Time: Varies
Where: 8882 170th St. NW #1174, Edmonton
Cost: Free

On Saturday afternoons, 124th Street transforms with live music. This weekend, you can check out Jenesia Band at 103 Avenue between OEB and Remedy from noon to 2 p.m., followed by a performance by Don Berner Big Band at Helen Nolan Park from 4 to 6 p.m.

Time: Noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
Where: 124th Street, Edmonton
Admission: Free

This week, check out Legally Blonde, a live production based on the iconic movie. From Harvard Law to Edmonton, this wonderful ride is not to be missed.

Big sports fan? Check out the court and watch Edmonton’s professional basketball team face off against the Vancouver Bandits on Friday.

Where: 7515 118th Ave. NW, Edmonton
Cost: $25.10+

Check out this spooky interactive experience at Fort Edmonton Park. Where Dark Things Dwell is Edmonton’s largest outdoor escape room, featuring live actors, exclusive access to the park, and a night you’ll never forget.

This week, they have availability for adventure from Wednesday through Friday.

When: June 6 to Sept. 14, 2025
Time: 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Where: 7000 143rd St.
Cost: $35 per person or $140 per group of four (plus service fee and GST)

This award-winning guided float takes you on a journey down the North Saskatchewan River, complete with a picnic-style meal from one of Edmonton’s top restaurants. The experience begins at Dawson Park, where guests shuttle upriver to Laurier Park. From here, you’ll float through the lush greenery of Edmonton’s west river valley past Buena Vista Dog Park and Hawrelak Park.

Improvaganza is Edmonton’s premier improv and sketch comedy festival, and it has returned. Whether it’s quirky characters, audience-driven scenes, or comedy workshops, this festival delivers laughs and lots of ’em.

When: Until Sunday, Aug. 22, 2025
Time: 7 and 9:30 p.m.
Where: 10437 83rd Ave.
Cost: $22.04 to $27.55

Showcasing contemporary circus acts, live shows, interactive workshops, and outdoor pop-ups, the Alberta Circus Festival is where art meets athleticism. Enjoy!
