There’s a large police presence at Toronto Pearson after a man was shot in Terminal 1

31 July 20252 Mins Read

Emergency services have responded to Toronto Pearson International Airport following reports of a police-involved shooting.

According to CBC News, Peel paramedics were dispatched to the scene at around 7 a.m. on Thursday. An adult male is believed to have been shot during the incident.

On X, Peel Regional Police confirmed that an officer was involved in a shooting in Terminal 1 at the airport, but was not injured.

“This is an isolated incident and there are no known threats to public safety,” the post said.

As of 9:30 a.m., neither Peel Regional Police nor Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) have released details regarding the other person’s condition.

Peel Regional Police have contacted Ontario’s Special Investigations unit.

Images and videos circulating on social media show a significant presence of Peel Regional Police outside Terminal 1 on Thursday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police have told CityNews that Highway 409 to Terminal 1 is now closed due to the incident.

At around 8:30 a.m., Toronto Pearson’s X account posted, “Due to a Peel Police investigation outside Terminal 1 departures, passengers and vehicles are being rerouted to enter and exit through T1 arrivals.”

Shortly after, the TTC announced that the 900 Airport Express bus will detour via Terminal 3, while the 952 bus service will detour westbound via Terminal 3, due to police activity.

By 9:30 a.m., the TTC removed that update, suggesting that normal service has now resumed.

It is not clear whether any flights will be affected by the incident. On social media, Toronto Pearson promised to keep passengers updated throughout the morning.

This is a developing story. Check back for more details.
