THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games are officially delivering the fourth Darksiders game, and this time, every Horseman is here. Darksiders 4 was revealed during Friday’s THQ Nordic showcase, promising an all-new action-adventure set in an apocalyptic version of Earth that picks up where the original Darksiders game left off.
Darksiders 4 will feature a familiar combination of third-person action and exploration, traversal, and puzzle-solving in what THQ Nordic describes as a “lore-rich post-apocalyptic world.” All four of the Horseman — War, Death, Fury, and Strife — are playable in Darksiders 4, either in single-player or cooperative play.
The new Darksiders will be the first mainline entry in the franchise since 2018’s Darksiders 3, which starred Fury and borrowed gameplay elements from the Metroidvania and Soulslike genres. Developer Gunfire Games has been pretty busy with the Remnant series since then, but they’re back on board. (We did get an isometric-perspective spinoff in 2019, with Darksiders Genesis.)
Darksiders 4 does not have a release window, but is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
