EA has really gone all-in on collaborations with The Sims 4 players in recent months. In the last year alone, the studio has worked with YouTuber LilSimsie to create a DLC pack based on her tastes, collaborated with Sims 4 content creator SolitaSims to bring a Simlish version of an FKA Twigs song to life in-game, and added other player-made content to the game via The Sims Creator Program. Now, the publisher wants players to help finish its Sims 4 Wattpad fanfic.
Sims developer Maxis and EA announced the spicy romantasy fanfic promotion on X alongside directions to help players get started. The first step is reading all 26 chapters of Foraging for Desire, which EA has helpfully uploaded to Wattpad, a popular fanfiction hosting site. The story focuses on the love triangle between Liora, a female Sim who is struggling to choose between two Sim-suitors: Milo the gentle forest guardian, and Orren, a “dangerously charming” fairy-Sim with “deeper plans than flirtation.”
Once players are caught up on the story, the next move is “Simming” the story’s ending and uploading it to TikTok under the #SimYourFantasy hashtag. Players must create Foraging for Desire‘s trio of main characters in The Sims 4, then play out their idea of a happy ending. Whether that happy ending sees Liora committing to Orren or Milo (or simply dumping them both and adopting as many cats as she can fit in her household) is entirely up to the player.
EA hasn’t announced when the story competition will end, nor has it shared what the winner(s) will get in return for their efforts (aside from the obvious bragging rights), but it’s likely to end relatively soon, as the competition is meant to promote the game’s latest Sims 4 expansion, Enchanted by Nature. The new add-on allows players to create bewinged fairy-Sims and introduces several new game mechanics like ailments, ingredient foraging, and a new way for Sims to “WooHoo” that results in piles of fairy dust ending up all over the floor. (Thankfully, there’s a vacuuming DLC for that.)
