With rumors swirling about Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau, fans might also be wondering about the love life of Perry’s recent ex, Orlando Bloom.
The Onion decided to offer its take in vintage parodical fashion, posting on its Instagram page this week about a fictional new romance between the English actor, 48, and — you may never guess it — a retired German politician.
“Just weeks after announcing his split with fiancée Katy Perry, English actor Orlando Bloom was photographed Friday dining with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel,” read The Onion‘s post, accompanying an AI-generated image of the two sitting together at a fancy dinner table. “‘Angela kept Orlando laughing all night—he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!’ said an insider source who spotted the pair sipping wine, slurping oysters, and splitting a decadent piece of chocolate layer cake at a Michelin-starred restaurant.”

The best part was seeing Bloom himself weigh in by commenting on The Onion‘s post Friday. It was short and sweet, with Bloom simply writing, “👏👏👏.”
It’s clear Bloom hasn’t lost his sense of humor as his former girlfriend, 40, has been recently spotted with Canada’s former prime minister, 53.
On July 30, Trudeau continued to fuel dating rumors by appearing at Perry’s concert in Montreal. The sighting came just two days after the pair were spotted at dinner together.
Following reports earlier this year of Bloom and Perry’s breakup, the pair confirmed their split on July 3.
