Jurassic World Rebirth and every new movie you can now watch on streaming

8 August 20255 Mins Read

Jurassic World Rebirth roared into theaters in July and became one of the highest-grossing action movies in U.S. history. The dinosaurs have broken theatrical containment, and the movie is available to rent for the first time this weekend. If you prefer your action with a side of bookkeeping instead of questionable science, you can rent The Accountant 2 and watch Ben Affleck team up with The Punisher’s Jon Bernthal.

This is also a great week for horror fans. Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey, an adaptation of the Stephen King story of the same name about a windup toy that causes a series of messy deaths, pops up on Hulu. Bosch star Titus Welliver stars as Abraham Van Helsing in Abraham’s Boys, a radical reimagining of the story of Dracula and his vampire-hunting nemesis, which has landed on Shudder.

Here’s a rundown of the most notable new releases on streaming and VOD, including the biggest, best, and most popular new movies you can watch at home right now.

New on HBO Max

Freaky Tales

  • Genre: Action comedy
  • Run time: 1h 47m
  • Directors: Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck
  • Cast: Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis

The genre-bending anthology film from Captain Marvel writers and directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck interconnects four stories based on real events that took place in Oakland, California in 1987. Pedro Pascal plays a criminal trying to stop working for a gang, which wants to rob Golden State Warriors player Sleepy Floyd’s home.

New on Hulu

The Monkey

  • Genre: Horror comedy
  • Run time: 1h 38m
  • Director: Osgood Perkins
  • Cast: Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Christian Convery

Longlegs writer and director Osgood Perkins helms this adaptation of Stephen King’s short story about a cursed windup toy that causes death whenever it bangs its symbols. Theo James plays a pair of estranged twin brothers who have to reunite after 25 when the toy they can’t seem to get rid of starts a new gory killing spree.

New on Prime Video

The Pickup

  • Genre: Action comedy
  • Run time: 1h 34m
  • Director: Tim Story
  • Cast: Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson, Eva Longoria

Russel (Eddie Murphy) and Travis (Pete Davidson) are mismatched partners driving an armored truck, with Russel focused on making his anniversary dinner date and finding a new career. Unfortunately the woman Travis hooked up with over the weekend (Keke Palmer) turns out to be a criminal mastermind who blackmails the duo into helping her pull off a heist.

New on Shudder and AMC+

Clown in a Cornfield

  • Genre: Horror
  • Run time: 1h 36m
  • Director: Eli Craig
  • Cast: Katie Douglas, Carson MacCormac, Aaron Abrams

The clown mascot of a burned-down corn syrup factory murders his way across a small Missouri town in this adaptation of Adam Cesare’s YA horror novel of the same name. The zippy slasher flick has a group of teens learning about the town’s history and trying to avoid getting killed themselves.

New to rent

Abraham’s Boys

  • Genre: Horror
  • Run time: 1h 39m
  • Director: Natasha Kermani
  • Cast: Titus Welliver, Jocelin Donahue, Judah Mackey

Abraham Van Helsing (Bosch star Titus Welliver) has always been a strict and overprotective father, but when he becomes paranoid that a terrible evil is coming to attack his wife, the Van Helsing sons wonder if their dad is losing his mind. The reimagining of the story of Dracula as a family drama is based on a short story by Locke & Key and The Black Phone author Joe Hill.

The Accountant 2

  • Genre: Crime thriller
  • Run time: 2h 4m
  • Director: Gavin O’Connor
  • Cast: Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson

The sequel to Gavin O’Connor’s 2016 action movie The Accountant, which became a cult classic despite an unimpressive box office performance, sees Ben Affleck’s brilliant criminal bookkeeper teaming up with his estranged assassin brother, played by The Punisher’s Jon Bernthal. A third film in the series involving lots of gunfights and financial crimes is already in the works.

Animale

  • Genre: Horror
  • Run time: 1h 38m
  • Director: Emma Benestan
  • Cast: Oulaya Amamra, Damien Rebattel

The feminist body-horror film follows Nejma, (Oulaya Amamra) a young woman who dreams of winning a South of France competition that modernizes the bullfighting tradition by making it about demonstrating agility rather than killing the animal. But when young men start turning up dead, Nejma finds she’s mostly worried about the fate of the loose bull being blamed for the killings.

Jurassic World Rebirth

  • Genre: Science fiction action
  • Run time: 2h 13m
  • Director: Gareth Edwards
  • Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey

Set five years after the events of Jurassic Park Dominion, Jurassic World Rebirth follows a mission to an island research facility for the original Jurassic Park by a pharmaceutical researcher (Rupert Friend), who believes the colossal creatures hold the key to curing heart disease. Scarlett Johansson plays a covert ops specialist trying to keep everyone from getting eaten on the excursion.

The Occupant

  • Genre: Science fiction thriller
  • Run time: 1h 44m
  • Director: Hugo Keijzer
  • Cast: Ella Balinska, Rob Delaney

Geologist Abby (Ella Balinska) is trying to get home to her terminally ill sister when a helicopter crash leaves her stranded in the Georgian wilderness. With only a mysterious voice on her radio (Rob Delaney) to guide her, Abby tries to make it to safety with a strange mineral sample even as she begins losing her grip on reality.
