'Terminator' Star, 68, Makes Unexpected Comment About Retiring From Acting

9 August 20252 Mins Read

Linda Hamilton, who famously played Sarah Connor in the Terminator film franchise, shared her thoughts about retiring from the entertainment industry.

While speaking to People magazine for an August 2025 interview, Hamilton shared she thought about retiring because of pain in her hip. However, she opted to film for the upcoming fifth and final season of Stranger Things, as well as the fourth and final season of Resident Alien. She’s also starring in the new film, Osiris.

“I worked straight for three years, ’cause I was doing Resident Alien and Stranger Things the same year. And I sneaked in another film while I was doing Stranger Things, and then I had to go straight off and finish off Resident Alien, and I’m tired. Really, really tired,” said Hamilton to the publication.

In addition, she said she believes being in retirement is more difficult than it seems.

“But retirement is a lot harder than working, it turns out,” said the actress.

Hamilton also said she can focus even more on her work as her children, Josephine Cameron and Dalton Abbott, are adults.

“I get to do work now the way that I always wanted to work, [in terms of] time, and I’m not raising children and I’m not cheating them if I sit with my script all day long. And I have to say, I’m enjoying it so much,” said Hamilton to the publication.

Hamilton shared a few details about filming Stranger Things Season 5 during a July 2025 interview with ComingSoon.Net. While Hamilton didn’t share any details about her mysterious new character, Dr. Kay, she said the shooting process for the beloved Netflix show was longer than she’s used to.

“We took a year to film eight episodes. So I’ve never been on a project for a year. Six months has been the biggest. You know, Terminator, Dante’s Peak, things like that. Used to be six-month shoots. And hardly anybody does that anymore,” said the 68-year-old.
